[ Hull City Council Spend Data | North Lincolnshire Council Spend Data ]The story so far
This replica site has been built to help the people that live around the Humber to view the spending of their local councils.
So far I have Hull City Council and North Lincolnshire Councils data in the system. I am working on North East Lincolshire, York City Council and East Riding Council data and will update this page as soon its loaded.
I may not enjoy all of the Tory/LibDem coalition Government decisions but their stance on open
data has to be appluaded, Eric Pickles pushed the agenda with this
article',
which then led to this guidance.
So far I have found that most Councils make a great attempt at providing the data in a workable format, open data is in its early
days and it shows, consistency is flaky, officers like publishing csv data as Excel spreadsheets, dates are troublesome and routing via smart urls (e.g. councilsite/opendata/spend/june/2011/csv) is non-exsistent :(
But on the whole open data is that, open... Unles you are the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, who refuse to publish their data in csv.
If you are an East Riding of Yorkshire Council resident then please contact them and ask them why they are not compliant with the requirements for open spend data? Why do they publish in pdf only? It means that we (the tax payer) have no transparency over their pay, you as a local business can not find out what services you may be able to provide, its as though they want to hide something ;-)
